Movie
Firm Teams With Auctioneer - by Stephen Frater of the Herald Tribune
With
about 80 percent of people starting realty searches on the Internet
and with auctions sparking interest in a sluggish market, Marsha
Wolak Auctions and Scenic Route Productions have teamed up to
provide real estate movies of properties being offered in a mega-auction
Aug. 19 at Michael's On East in Sarasota.
"Real
estate movies let a viewer get a real sense of the home and the
listing agent," said Michael J. Vanderpool, SRP's owner.
"We have produced 11 movies for the auction so far and will
have eight more ready over the next week."
The
properties are from Tampa to North Port, so seeing each would
be "quite an endeavor," Vanderpool said. To him, the
movie solves that problem. Each one lasts about three minutes,
so 20 properties can be viewed in one hour.
"A
person could watch 10 movies in the time it would take someone
local to drive to just one home," he said. "Imagine
what this does for buyers from other parts of the country or overseas."
SRP
also provides a Web page for each property and a downloadable
file that can played on portable media devices like the iPod.
The
movies also are uploaded to YouTube and other video sites, and
a link is also provided for the Multiple Listing Service.
"Florida
is the perfect market for real estate movies," Vanderpool
said. "With so many people relocating to or purchasing second
homes in Florida, it only makes sense for someone selling a home
to use this service. A real estate movie gives a real sense of
the layout of the home."
The
company also puts the listing agent on camera, allowing him or
her to introduce the property. The tour then moves through the
home, with music and narration.
